What wine with what food…Personally, I don’t care but some do!
I received a piece of mail today from “American Wine Cellars” that layed out logically and very simply…The Pairings.
1. Heavy meals generally call for full-bodied wines, and light meals call for light-bodied wines.
2. Fatty meals tend to go well with acidic reds.
3. Salty foods work well with acidic whites.
4. Spicy foods are nicely counterbalanced by a savory wine or one with a touch of sweetness.
5.Desserts generally call for sweet, acidic wines.
Frankly, I know what I like and that is the way it is. On another note: My hot button today is aeration, aerators and are they worth the effort and money? Generally, I say yes. Try the Magic Decanter, Vinturi, Respirer, or Mini Aerators (bottle neck).
Had a conversation with a friend at Viader Wines; Delia Viader, owner. She is obsessed with turning out quality and receiving recognition for her commitment to quality. Wine Enthusiast Magazine gave her a 94 on her Cab. I will tell you up-front, she is a business friend and I don’t make a penny saying this, but, I like to give good people a plug for her: ”We Try Harder”. A single mom, committed to wine.
Merry Christmas to All and to All…not yet a Good Night. Cheers to Lovers of Wine.
